The Luciole began her 2025 season with a wonderful group of passengers from the USA and England. Dulcet tones and laughter filled the spring air as we cruised from Auxerre to the sleepy port of Clamecy, at the southern end of our route.
The Nivernais Canal is glorious and delightfully varied, combining both river and canal sections. It was a joy to see the lock keepers again after the winter—many of whom live in the charming lock houses along the way.
Cruising under the bridge at Champs-sur-Yonne had everyone ducking beneath the arched stonework as we made our way to Vincelles. At our mooring here, James, King of the Cocktail, presented his first creation of the week—a delicious concoction adorned with orange.
In Clamecy, the tradition of tossing a flower into the River Yonne and making a wish was the perfect finale to a lovely evening, when the crew took turns joining passengers for the Captain’s Dinner. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season.
