5th – 11th May 2024
Thank you, thank you to our wonderful Canadians and British passengers, who due to the weather at the end of last week and over the weekend, only cruised as far as La Cour Barrée. The Luciole was forced to tie up to the bank with the navigation closed due to flooding, an unusual occurrence that last happened in 2016.
We organised tours aplenty to occupy the days, making all our usual visits. On Thursday, Chef Nicolas created a stunningly sumptuous ‘meals on wheels’ lunch of seafood, roast beef and salads, all transported to Penny’s house. There was an aperitif in the garden, lunch for all round the kitchen table and then a stroll down the road to Loeloe and Jos’ glorious garden to see and talk plants and drink home-made apple juice, pressed from their orchard.
Meanwhile back on the Luciole, paint pots came out for touching up, with Cailan, assisted by Alex taking full advantage of the sunny weather. We were all grateful that the water level did not rise an extra metre, which would have matched the 1986 height, seriously flooding of all the houses along the banks of the River Yonne. Our sincere thanks once again for being such fantastically kind and understanding passengers.
