Sunshine summer days on the Nivernais Canal. This week we cruised from the pretty mooring of sleepy Clamecy to spectacular Auxerre, beneath the Cathedral of St Etienne.

Passengers joined us from East and West Coast America, Australia and the UK. A delightful combination of individuals, some of whom had cruised previously. A big shout out too, to Adrienne of Tasmania for recommending the Luciole to fellow compatriot Fran, when they met on a Parisian street 7 years ago!

We ladies had our other Australian, Helen, to thank for her recommendation, which resulted in the newly purchased lipsticks by ‘Deborah’. The lippy department of Monoprix has never been so popular as when the Luciole ladies descended to buy colours of every spectrum and in various quantities. As we sat on deck with our Captain’s Diner drinks and canapés the conversation was all about reference numbers and shades. Such fun.

Of course (and it goes without saying) there were also delightful tours with Vincent, the delicious food by Nicolas, expert steering and navigation by Captain Jim and Matelot Cailan and the hosting roles, with joy and smiles from Sarah, Alex and Ebba. Happy days.
