Our season began in the Auxerre sunshine, with a delightful group of ladies, all the way from Australia and keen to lap up the joys of Spring. Penny was their leader an experienced tour organiser, who had carefully planned their French tour itinerary.

It certainly is exciting cruising out of Auxerre for the first time in a new year. To be on the move, with the River Yonne lapping around the bow and the cheerful Burgundian flag flapping in the breeze is uplifting. We are off!

The Luciole crew all returned from last season. A well-oiled machine, picking up from where they left off in 2023 with smiles and oodles of experience, led by the superb Captain Jim.

Tour guide Vincent took the visit to Vézelay, and afterwards, it was back to Fontenille, to Penny Liley’s house for rosé wine, coffee and a roaring fire. Big thank you to Julie for the chocolates. They were delicious!

Chef Nicolas, whipped up his usual storm of stunning culinary delights. The menu inspiring, with beautifully presented dishes and combinations of flavours that leave everyone in awe.

At the end of the week in Clamecy, we were sad to wave our lovely ladies off to their Château d’Étoges adventure in Champagne, but we know for sure, they will leave smiles on faces, where ever they go. Thank you for making our first week so special!
