A week break for the crew started with a bang! Fete National, or Bastille day to the Anglophiles. With the boat moored in Auxerre, we had the best seat in the house, just under the fireworks and within the inner cordon. The night’s sky was filled with blue, white and red, all reflected in the river and with the backdrop of the cathedral.

For the rest of the week, some crew escaped for a brief visit to families and loved ones, others stayed onboard and pottered on with some maintenance and much painting was done.
