No. 11 - CDG
Charles de Gaulle Airport or CDG for short.
Sometimes referred to as Roissy, the name of the closest town to the airport. The largest airport serving Paris, located just outside to the north. There is also Orly to the south, and Beauvais much further north.
Terminal Map
It's not the simplest airport.
Terminal 1 Round in design, so it’s hard to place yourself on the map, also multiple levels.
Terminal 2 A confusing figure-of-eight shape, with multiple sections A-G. You will most likely arrive or depart from this. Arrivals: Downstairs. Departures: Upstairs
Terminal 3 Easiest, usually used by low-cost and charter flights
RoissyBus
Important update: the RoissyBus stopped running on 1 March 2026.
This used to be a useful direct bus between CDG and Opéra, but it is no longer in service. If you are travelling between CDG and Paris, use the RER B, an official taxi, or Uber instead.
If staying near Opéra, the RER B still works well, but you will need to change within Paris. If you have a lot of luggage, an official taxi may be the easier option.
RER – Line B (light blue)
A braver option, but also the quickest and gives access to anywhere on the Metro network. It's not actually that difficult
See the location on the terminal map. You can walk between Terminal 2 sections A-F, with travelators to help. There is also a station for Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. CDG Terminal 2 is the end of the line, so all RER B trains from there go towards Paris.
Approx. 25 mins to Gare du Nord Approx. 28 mins to Châtelet-Les-Halles Approx. 35 mins to Denfert-Rochereau.
€14 one way. A specific ticket to or from the airport is required!
See my guide on using the Metro/RER here
Frequency: usually every 10-15 minutes on weekdays First train around 05:00 Last train around 00:50
Positives:
Potentially the quickest Gives access to the whole Metro/RER network Cheap if solo or 2
Negatives:
Confusing Can be busy depending on time/date Pickpockets Possibly a 15-minute walk (with travelators) from the baggage/arrival desk
Notes:
Careful about where you choose to change. Gare du Nord is by far the busiest train station in Europe. Châtelet is one of the largest underground stations in the world.

Taxi
Official taxis have fixed fares between CDG and Paris, so use the official taxi rank
Positives:
Fixed airport fares to Paris: €56 to the Right Bank, €65 to the Left Bank Comfortable Quick if traffic is good Direct to your hotel/terminal
Negatives:
Traffic can be very bad if the times are unlucky Must find the official taxi rank
Uber
Great option, but the challenge is finding the allowed pick-up point, and working out which level of road it means!
Positives:
Set price Comfortable Quick if traffic is good Direct to your hotel/terminal
Negatives:
Not easy to agree/find a meet point at the airport if departing, as they do not necessarily have access to the taxi ranks It's not clear on the map which level of road the location pointer is in the spaghetti road layout of CDG Affected by traffic
Terminal 2E
At the risk of overcomplicating things, I believe that Terminal 2E deserves a specific mention.
It is worth knowing that, for some gates, you need to take the airport shuttle train. This is especially common for gates starting with L or M.
It's not difficult to get the shuttle train, but it may catch you by surprise. The station in Terminal 2E is after passport control, but before the baggage x-ray checks.
Hopefully this map will explain
