We welcomed aboard a Swiss family spanning three generations—our first charter from Switzerland, in fact. Throughout the week, three different languages intertwined, with special thanks to Michael and the youngest family member for their help with translation.
There were rides on the big wheel, which has brightly dominated the right bank in Auxerre this summer. On Monday in Vincelles and Thursday in Chatel Censoir, there was swimming in the River Yonne. Impressive! And, of course, we can’t forget the speedy completion of the traveling jigsaw puzzle and the enjoyment of Sarah’s chocolate bars!
In Vézelay, our visit was perfectly timed. As we finished our tour with Christopher at La Maison du Visiteur, the sun broke through the clouds. The September light, softer at this time of year and lower in the sky, was particularly stunning as it illuminated the southern side when we left the basilica.
In addition to the Swiss smiles, we will fondly remember the delightful drawing of the Luciole and the flowers along the bus window. We were deeply touched. Thank you.
