A delightful cruise from Auxerre to Clamecy, with equally delightful passengers. A number who had cruised with us before, Beverly, Helen and Tom, it was super to have you onboard again and of course to welcome new faces too.
The Wednesday market in Noyers-sur-Serein was bustling, the afternoon’s cruising was smooth with Captain Jim and Matelot Cailain taking it in turns to steer. Half the passengers took to the bikes to explore and found great success in the little shop Mailly-la-Ville, half buying beer and the others ice creams. It is always such a lovely surprise to ‘come upon’ Luciole passengers in unexpected places, exploring our corner of beautiful Burgundy.
On Thursday and the trip to Vézelay, we took the opportunity to listen to a concert in the Basilica. Heavenly voices filled the knave. After the tour it was chilled Rosé at Penny’s in Fontenille.
Friday night and Captain’s diner - sumptuous food enjoyed, along with laughter and fun when Chris was presented with the wedge of wood that had helped stabilized the gang plank plank on uneven ground. Wishes were made when flowers were thrown into the River Yonne, that tumbled over the barrage beside us. Such a fitting finale of a lovely week when friendships blossomed and memories were made.
