Bill certainly brought happiness to the Luciole, with his 4 children and their partners. A special time to be together in La Belle France, when sunflowers fill the fields, facing east, towards the rising sun.
Cocktail hour was greatly enjoyed and thank goodness Scott was there to whip up an ‘Old Fashioned’ because until that moment, it had Penny wondering if the lemon San Pellegrino with it’s tangy taste would fill the spot. For Bill, he left with the memory of Chardonnay Spritzer – the perfect refreshing summer drink to sip on the Luciole sundeck and back home. Cheers Bill!
Friday brought excitement when we came across another barge, heavier and sitting deeper in the water than the Luciole and blocking our passage. Captain Jim came to the rescue expertly manoeuvring the boat off the sandbank, only for them to steam away with such speed we ourselves were left high and dry. All part of the entertainment of boating!
Friday night, with not a breath of breeze in the air, saw a mirror smooth River Yonne. The magnificent sight of the Cathedral and Abbey reflected onto the water is a sight to see and skyline to dream about. La belle France and Burgundy at her best.
