We were blessed this week, with our very own DJ. Thank you Robert for your love of music and the wide choice you provided. On Captain’s Diner, Pierre accompanied French artists in dulcet tones, and also played, the emotional prayer ‘Avinu Malkeinur’ sung at Shimon Peres’s funeral. Something for everyone combined with the celebration of Deborah’s birthday.
Paul our fabulous tour guide, man of historical facts and knowledge of the local highways and byways, proposed a bike ride to Vezelay. Hats off to the cyclists; Dave, Chris and Robert who joined him. The final push up the ‘Eternal Hill’ was rewarded with an excellent talk by Chris of the Maison du Visiteur, followed by lunch close to the basilica. A memorable day for all.
The 'hats off' reward however, definitely goes to the intrepid Ginny for her true sense of exploration. A sojourn that wound along towpath and lanes, enabling her to enjoy the hospitality and assistance of the delightful Frederic and Aurelie. A story of adventure, lost and found, lock keepers and police will be remembered always by the Luciole crew, and in particular by Paul and Chris. Everyone loves a good reunion!
