A break in the season, but the hot weather continues. The boat was moored in Clamecy for this week without guests, allowing time for the crew to look after the boat. This also happened to be the weekend when the town celebrates with great vigour, the andouillette (pronounced: An-dwui-ette) – a sausage, a festival for a sausage, and not just any sausage, it’s filled with rolled up intestine linings. It has a chewy, rubbery consistency and the smell is profound, this doesn’t faze me - but the taste, that still haunts me now. However, there was a stage with live music to be enjoyed by the crew, just accompanied by a hint of offal in the air.
