Without a doubt, this week will go down as ‘The Bike Cruise’. The family charter group included five siblings, two of which had cruised with grandparents on the Palinurus way back in the 1970s! Fit and enthusiastic they cycled the highways and languid lanes of our glorious corner of Burgundy, guided by Paul, Luciole's bike leader superior.
The weather was kind. Even Tuesday's slightly grey morning, did not dampen spirits for the cycle to Vézelay, not forgetting a pitstop along the way in Fontenille for a bit of bike TLC. The tour of the basilica and enlightening presentation by Chris at La Maison du Visiteur, was both humbling and memorable. Lunch in a local restaurant restored energies before the ride home in September sunshine.
Chablis proved no challenge either for our intrepid riders. Yes true indeed - there and back - with a different pitstop for wine tasting at Brocard.
Swimming and walks up and over the vineyards were also on the agenda. No stopping anyone this week.
Cruising into Auxerre and mooring under the magnificent cathedral was a fitting finale to this truly memorable cruise. Respect from the Luciole crew is never ending and hats off to your next chapter of travel and exploration, where ever that might be... so honoured you chose to cruise on the Luciole. Our thanks.
