The last week of the season already, this season has certainly been unique, although the challenges of the world are starting to become a normality.
On board we had a group of friends from America, some of which had visited space a few times, yet decided to spend their holiday on the Luciole. The weather was excellent, it’s such a stunning time of year in the valley, the light is mellow and morning mist clings in patches in the valley, the nights become brisk but the boat becomes a warm haven to settle down, especially to dinner with friends.
The last of the grapes are being picked from the vines, and we say the customary “L’année prochaine” to each lock keeper as we pass. Laughter bounces around the saloon for the last Captainers dinner, soon after the anchors are dropped with a splash, to sit through the winter storms.
