Still in the shipyard
We are still in the shipyard after 3 weeks, but the work is nearly complete, we’ve been waiting for the manufacture of our new propeller shaft, as it is custom to the boat. Some minor adjustments to it are required, and then the alignment to the engine must be checked.
Our new generator has been craned in through the roof and placed on its mounts within a sound proof box. The exhaust, wiring and cooling is still to be connected.
The hull looks great in fresh paint and we’ve put new anodes on, to reduce the impact of electrolysis, which is very common in ports, and causes corrosion of the hull. Other jobs include improvements to our steering and improving the anchors.
The weather has been very wet, so we may be delayed on our journey home. Due to the speed of the current, it could be hard going and dangerous entering the locks, due to the eddy that forms at the entrance to the lock .
