The Luciole cruised her second week with another group of delightful passengers from all round the world: Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Americans, who by chance were from the same town. Friendships sprang up, aided and abetted by a good deal of banter. Glasses were raised by one and all that Eurostar did indeed have Ron’s belonging. What a service.
On market day in Noyers-sur-Serein, we ate a delicious country-style lunch full of delicate flavours at the delightful family restaurant ‘Les Granges’. Luise quickly took to the ivories of the perfectly pitched piano and book ended the luncheon with another short serenade, creating a cameo to remember. It was like being in a French house, fifteen of us round a large table, we sipped Sauvignon Blanc from Goisot in Saint-Bris and tasty Epineuil from Gruhier.
Towards the end of the cruise on the Friday, there was entertainment again, this time in the form of two very friendly goats. Belonging to the lock keeper, they were inquisitive and polite and the crew could not resist rewarding. Barging life is certainly alway interesting!
