8th - 14th July 2018
Diana and Chantal returned to the Luciole with more lovely Australians. A big week for France! The Football World Cup final and the most important national holiday; Bastille day. Both on the same day! We arrived into Auxerre on Friday, the 13 July, mooring on the quay in time for the town’s firework display that evening.
Temperatures rose and finding shade on our tour of the town was important - hats were helpful. The tour of Auxerre took us to the Cathedral of St Etienne, a sanctuary of calm and cool as ever, before a return to Luciole’s prime spot mooring, beneath the walking bridge over the River Yonne, known as ‘La Passerelle’.
The fireworks were truly magnificent - possibly after last years cancellation - we were treated to a double display. The most dramatic part, the falling of firework rain from La Passerelle. The exclamations of approval rippled through the awe struck spectators.
Certainly a wonderful finale to a fun week. A grand merci to Diana and Chantal. See you next season!
