THE LUCIOLE CREW
The Luciole crew of 6 are all English speaking. Together they create the atmosphere that the Luciole is renowned for - professional yet relaxed - and always on hand to look after our passengers. Our crew do not wear uniforms, which we believe is one of the reasons why the atmosphere on the Luciole is so special.
Neil, the Tours Director, is cruising with the Luciole for his sixth season. He has many years of hotel barge experience and his flair as a guide and historian is greatly appreciated.
Mike the Chef has joined us this season. With a wealth of varied culinary experience, Mike continues the reputation of gastronomy barge Luciole has long been associated with.
Anna and Suzie, the Hostesses are the gems of the Luciole providing service with a smile.
Francisco is our Captain. He was born in Chile and is both Spanish and French speaking. Francisco joined the Luciole in 2010, following two years in Paris as pilot of taxi boats cruising the River Seine.
Tom, the matelot has helped us with pre-season work in previous years and now takes up the position of assisting Francisco
William Liley, retired matelot from the last two seasons helped with pre-season preparations. Now land based and a valuable back-scenes assistant, he has been involved in barging since a small child - first visiting the Luciole as a baby of 4 months old - barging is in his blood!

An interesting French fact.......
The Luciole is one of the few hotel barges with two booms. The steel rods are positioned on the side of the barge and a crew member can balance (slightly precariously) on the end and push off from side deck (gunnel) to reach the destination. The barge boom is particularly useful to get ashore to assist lock keepers with opening or closing lock gates. On one famous ocassion, Will delivered a chilled gin and tonic to a needy passenger on the shore on a hot summers day. True enough, he was expecting water, but it was 6pm and a G&T was his favourite tipple!

The Luciole's dedicated crew are all English speaking and multi tasking, turning their hands from looking after our passengers to keeping the barge looking bright in her Burgundy red livery
